Ad Hoc Committees

The main goal of the International Task Force is to find out if there is a need for more international cooperation or even for an international home for public historians. The task force works with our board, long range planning, and membership and development committees to expand membership, cross-cultural dialogue and projects, and international participation in NCPH’s conferences and all its activities.  The Working Group on Evaluating Public History Scholarship jointly formed in 2007 by the National Council on Public History (NCPH), the Organization of American Historians (OAH), and the American Historical Association (AHA), the working group will produce guidelines to help academic institutions define what constitutes public history work and how it should be accounted for in the academic reward system. The group has organized sessions at AHA, OAH, and NCPH conferences, gathered samples of promotion & tenure guidelines from history departments, and currently is drafting its report.
