• 2018 Pop-Up Proposal - Deadline January 26

The National Council on Public History is soliciting proposals for pop-up exhibits, activities, or skills labs to set up in the exhibit hall over the course of the 2018 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. Pop-ups are, by nature, flexible and spontaneous, so NCPH welcomes a wide variety of proposals and has few specific expectations in terms of materials or content. We ask that proposals reflect a pop-up that will be visual and interactive; whether it’s set up in the exhibit hall for a half an hour, an hour, or three, attendees should have the chance to pop in, talk with presenters, and learn something new. For more information or to learn more about past pop-ups, please see the Call for Pop-Ups: http://bit.ly/ncph2018popups.

  • About Your Pop-Up

  • How long would you like your pop-up to be set up in the exhibit hall?
  • The exhibit hall in Las Vegas will be open on Thursday, April 19, 8am-5pm; Friday, April 20, 8am-5pm; and Saturday, April 21, 8am-2pm. Please select your first choice of days for your pop-up. • Which general category does your pop-up fit into? (See the Call for Pop-Ups for a brief explanation of these categories.)
  • Please provide a short (~75 words) public-facing description for your pop-up that will appeal to meeting attendees. This description will run in the updated Program, available digitally early next year and onsite at the meeting. If you're proposing a skills lab, please make sure to clearly describe the skill you'll be teaching!
  • Please expand on your short abstract to provide a fuller description of your proposed pop-up exhibit, activity, or skills lab for internal evaluation purposes. If you're proposing a skills lab, tell us very briefly about your professional qualifications!
  • Why do you think that a pop-up is a good fit for your proposed project or presentation?
  • NCPH will provide two six-foot tables with chairs in the exhibit hall. Additional space and tables will be available in the adjacent Commons gathering area of the exhibit hall where attendees can sit to do activities or participate in skills labs. Please indicate below how you envision your pop-up will use this space—will you display images or objects? Have attendees do an activity?
  • NCPH should be able to provide electrical access, easels, markers, and post-its with sufficient notice. Please indicate in this space whether you anticipate needing any of these items. If you'd like to lead a skills lab, let us know what you think you'll need. Requests for materials will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but we'll do our best to accommodate them!
