Abstract

I am seeking presenters involved in community ( defined broadly) oral history projects in order to present the results of t heir work.

Seeking

Community oral history projects can get directly at the themes in the call for proposal for the conference by looking at the “middle,” by examining unsung actors who made up the vital fab ric of their communities. I currently am involved in two oral history proj ects that will soon launch and have oral histories collected by the time of the NCPH meeting. The Floyd County Oral History Bicentennial Project, whi ch has been sanctioned by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission, will intervi ew residents of New Albany, Indiana, about their lives in the community; th e project will take place in 2016 in accordance with Indiana’s bicente nnial year. Also, the Indiana University Southeast Campus Oral History Pro ject will interview a range of employees and former employees from administ rators to tell the story of Indiana University Southeast, one of the branch campuses of Indiana University. My presentation will discuss both oral hi story projects and what has been learned from the oral histories that have been conducted. I am seeking additional presenters involved in community ( broadly defined) oral history projects for a panel discussion.
