Program Introduction

The Public History Program at Northern State University consists of a 12-credit certificate and an 18-credit minor. Both programs begin with the same sequence of core courses available online: HIST 240: Intro to Public History, HIST 483 Museums & Archives, and HIST 483: Material Culture Studies. Since 2011, over 150 students have taken public history courses from NSU. The program currently awards four to five minors and certificates every year.
