Up to two interns will be hired to assist Joshua Tree National Park Cultural Resources staff with the stewardship of the park’s historic resources. Duties include site visits, in-field data collection using ArcGIS Field Maps, inventorying cultural landscape features, conducting conditions assessments, updating photographic records and site record forms, digitizing archival collections, data entry into the Cultural Resource Inventory System (CRIS), supporting graffiti monitoring and treatment efforts, applying small-scale preservation treatments, and assisting with the preparation of determinations of eligibility (DOEs) using the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) criteria and standards.

To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old (or 35 if a veteran) when starting the internship, a post-secondary student (certificate program, 2-year, 4-year, or graduate level), or a recent graduate (within the past 12 months at the time of application), and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

This position is currently funded for 480 hours, but may be extended. The anticipated start date is early-mid September. A background security investigation is required before the start date. All NCPE internships accrue four hours of PTO for every 80 hours worked.

Pay Rate: $18.50/hour
