 NCPH Mission Statement

The National Council on Public History (NCPH) is a membership association dedicated to making the past useful in the present and to encouraging collaboration between historians and their public. Our work begins in the belief that historical understanding is of essential value in society. (more)

A fifteen-member Board of Directors, elected by the membership, governs the NCPH with the active assistance of numerous committees which address administrative or policy issues, investigate and advise the organization on recent developments in the field, and support initiatives that enhance the practice of public history. The organization’s Bylaws, Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, and Long Range Plan help to shape our structure and direction.

The NCPH Executive Office is located on the campus of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.
