He went to the OAH, in Bloomington, Indiana, from Capitol Hill, where he worked for two years as an editor for the United States Senate Judiciary Committee. Dichtl received his Ph.D. (2000) and M.A. (1993) in American history from Indiana University and is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he earned a B.A. in European and World history. Carrie Dowdy joined the NCPH staff in July 2009. She came to the organization from the University of Kentucky where she worked with a federal grant program serving underrepresented students. For nearly seven years prior to that, she served at the Kentucky Historical Society in several capacities, including Community History Resource Manager and Education Specialist. In these roles, Carrie acted as liaison to small historic sites and museums and coordinated two statewide student programs, National History Day in Kentucky and the Kentucky Junior Historical Society. She also administered a Teaching American History grant program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education and formed in partnership with the Kentucky Historical Society, the University of Kentucky, the Kentucky Heritage Council, and twelve southeastern Kentucky school districts.
A native of Oklahoma, Carrie earned her B.A. in History Education (1999) and M.A. in History/Museum Studies (2001) from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Theresa Koenigsknecht joined the NCPH executive office in August 2011. She grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan and is pursuing an MA in Public History at IUPUI. In May 2011 she graduated from Michigan State University with two BA degrees, one in History and another in Anthropology, and also earned her Museum Studies Certification.
