Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area-AmeriCorps (State & National)
AFNHA is seeking AmeriCorps members for conservation and/or cultural heritage roles for our 2026-27 program year, which begins in September 2026. Positions are for one year (12 month) with a living stipend provided ($21,500). The Segal Education Award ($7,395) is granted to those that successfully complete the full year. Available position locations span across eastern West Virginia and provide support to local communities that focus on conservation, cultural heritage, education and outreach, among other activities. Members serve with a variety of sites including the National Forest, US Fish and Wildlife, historical societies, museums, visitor centers, and other non-profit organizations. Company Description: The Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area celebrates the central Appalachian forest – its history, culture, natural resources, and forest heritage. We focus on cultural heritage, conservation, and tourism to support rural community development in western Maryland and the highlands of West Virginia.
Stipend: $21,500 for full-time roles
Segal Education Award: Full-time $7,395.00
