HISTORIAN POSITION AT IEEE

Overview Reporting to the Director of Heritage Programs, the Historian conducts independent historical research, creates accessible content for public and academic audiences, and oversees key heritage initiatives under minimal supervision. The position balances content development, program management, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Content Development & Research: Conduct independent research to produce engaging historical content for public outreach, educational initiatives, articles, and conference presentations.
• Program Management: Oversee day-to-day operations for core heritage initiatives as assigned, including designing, curating, and circulating exhibits for the IEEE Global Museum and managing exhibit development vendors.
• Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement: Contribute to organizational newsletters, foster relationships within the professional history community, and assist with committee and volunteer engagement.

Education Master’s or other advanced degree in history, education, public history/museology, archival science, or related field required. Ph.D. in history, education, public history/museology, archival science, or related field preferred.

Work Experience 4–7 years postgraduate experience in a related field required. 7–10 years postgraduate experience in a related field preferred. MA and Ph.D. degrees count as experience.
