Job Description:

The Nebraska State Historical Society is seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as the State Historic Preservation Office’s (SHPO) Historic Tax Incentive Coordinator. As a member of SHPO, this position serves as the State of Nebraska’s recognized expert and administrator of the Federal Historic Tax Credit, Nebraska Historic Tax Credit, and Valuation Incentive Program, and assist with other building reviews. The position will be accountable for reviewing applications, providing technical assistance on historic preservation to applicants, and communicating with National Park Services staff to maintain consistency between the state and federal historic tax credit programs. The Tax Incentive Coordinate is responsible for one of the most utilized programs with the SHPO. With that responsibility comes the opportunity to travel throughout the state to visit project sites, work with a wide range of applicants including seasoned developers, local governments, and small-town business owners, and have an impact on the development of educational materials that help improve and empower Nebraska’s historic preservation goals.

Minimum Hiring Rate: $27.212+/hour

Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management or related field is preferred AND 2-5 years’ experience working with technical building program elements.

Preferred: Master’s Degree (graduate degree) in architecture, architecture history, construction management, history, or a related field; as determined applicable based on the Secretary of the Interior Professional Qualifications Standards (36 CFR Part 61, Appendix A).

Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver’s license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and Reliable attendance is required.
