Protect Section 106

The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has approved proposed revisions to the Section 106 review process under the National Historic Preservation Act. If implemented, the changes would reduce requirements for public and government consultation during federal preservation reviews, limit opportunities for community participation, and scale back consultation requirements related to Indigenous cultural resources. These revisions could weaken and even remove current protections for historic places and cultural heritage sites.
