Bio

Kyley Butler is a public historian, researcher, and heritage consultant with experience across museums, archives, cultural institutions, and community-centered projects in both the United States and Europe. She is the founder of Quill & Frame, a research and heritage consulting practice focused on historical research, interpretation, storytelling, and public engagement.

Her work draws from a background in museum studies and heritage studies, with particular interests in public history, material culture, colonial history, archival research, and place-based interpretation. Kyley has worked on projects involving exhibition research and development, interpretive planning, collections and archival work, educational and community programming, and collaborative research initiatives. She is especially interested in helping organizations and individuals make complex histories more accessible, meaningful, and engaging for public audiences.

In addition to institutional work, Kyley provides historical and genealogical research support for individuals pursuing ancestry and citizenship documentation, family history projects, and other historically grounded research needs. Her approach emphasizes thoughtful research, clear communication, and ethical, community-centered storytelling.

Kyley holds a B.A. in History from Mount Holyoke College and an M.A. in Heritage Studies and Museum Studies from the University of Amsterdam.
