Proposal Type: Panel

Abstract: Our topic deals with a 2011 interdisciplinary honors seminar created at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. That seminar used the various resources of the area–including a significant number of community members-to explore and elucidate the history of the Texas Hill Country and to relate that history to contemporary issues of the frontier, such as race relations and terrorism.

Seeking: Since this topic is essentially an exercise in Heritage Education, I’d like to be part of a panel dealing with issues of place, community outreach and education. Thus, I am looking for people who have done comparable work with which to form a panel.

Might it make sense for you to combine forces with the panel on digital students projects as scholarship and to create a session that talks about the intellectual and practical value of student work.
