Holocaust Museum Boston is preparing to open in spring 2027 as New England’s first and only museum dedicated exclusively to Holocaust education. Located in downtown Boston across from the Freedom Trail and the Massachusetts State House, the Museum is being developed as a defining cultural and educational institution for the region. Through immersive exhibitions, survivor testimony, and innovative educational programming, the Museum will examine the consequences of antisemitism, hatred, and indifference while elevating stories of human dignity, moral courage, resilience, and choice.

The Holocaust Museum Boston seeks an inaugural Director of Development to serve as the senior executive responsible for development, including fundraising, membership, and external engagement.

Reporting directly to and working closely with President and CEO Jody Kipnis, the Director will join the Museum during a consequential period as it completes its $110 million capital campaign, prepares for its spring 2027 opening, and builds the philanthropic foundation needed for long-term sustainability. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director will design and execute strategies that strengthen philanthropic momentum, institutional visibility, and lasting donor relationships.

The Director will partner closely with the President and CEO to complete the capital campaign, serve as chief architect of donor strategy, personally manage a portfolio of 75–100 principal and major gift prospects, and collaborate with institutional and Board leadership on six- and seven-figure solicitations. The role also offers the opportunity to build a unified development function encompassing fundraising, membership, events, and external engagement while establishing scalable systems, metrics, reporting practices, and a disciplined moves management program.

Salary Range: $150,000-$175,000/year
