New Resource: Reframing History
We need a more productive public conversation about history. Today, we’re excited to share “Reframing History,” a new resource to help the field more effectively communicate what history is and why it matters.
This project reveals that by emphasizing critical thinking, using the metaphor of detective work to explain the historical process, articulating how learning history can help society make progress toward justice, and grounding conversations about history with specific, local examples, we can build greater public support for rigorous and inclusive history.
When it comes to shifting public understanding, consistency is key, and that comes when all like-minded advocates use the same language. We all have a role in shaping the conversation around history, and so we hope you’ll read the report, download the toolkit, and begin using these strategies in your work.
