Nominate the best in public history!

Help us recognize those who put history to work in the world! Over $7,000 in award money is available. Guidelines as well as current and past recipients are listed at: http://ncph.org/about/awards

Recipients will be honored during the National Council on Public History annual meeting, April 12-15, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Due November 1, 2022

NCPH Book Award
A $1,000 award for the best book about or growing out of public history published in 2021 or 2022.

Due December 1, 2022

Excellence in Consulting Award
Up to two $500 awards for outstanding work and contributions by consultants or contractors.

Outstanding Public History Project Award
Two $750 prizes recognizing projects—digital, print, film, exhibit, etc.—that contribute to a broader public reflection and appreciation of the past or that serve as a model of professional public history practice. One prize will go to a larger institution (roughly 6 or more paid staff) and the other to a smaller institution.

Michael C. Robinson Prize for Historical Analysis
A $500 cash award and certificate, rewarding historical studies that contribute directly to the formation of public policy.

NCPH Grassroots Public History Award – Atlanta
A $750 award recognizing an individual or community organization doing important public history work in their community.

New Professional Award
Two $500 travel grants to enable new professionals, practicing public history for no more than three years, to attend NCPH2023.

Student Project Award
A $500 travel grant to attend NCPH2023, recognizing the contributions of student work to the field of public history.

Graduate Student Travel Award
Five travel grants of up to $300 each for graduate students presenting (session, poster session, or working group) at NCPH2023.
