Updated Graduate Student Handbook and Upcoming Grad Fair!
A decade ago, NCPH’s New Professional and Student Committee (NPSC) published The Public History Navigator, our guide to navigating public history graduate school. Now we’re excited to announce that our NPSC has completed an updated version, The Graduate Student Handbook: Choosing and Thriving in a Public History Program. This free resource tackles every aspect of grad school, from choosing and applying to the right program (and paying for it) to succeeding in the program. We encourage you to share this far and wide with undergraduate and grad students alike!

Save the date: this October 9-10, NCPH is hosting our inaugural Grad Fair. With the goal of demystifying graduate school for current high school and undergraduate students, and connecting public history MA programs with prospective students for more effective recruitment, we’ll be hosting a two-day event that combines a career fair-style experience with live and pre-recorded sessions for prospective students (free for them!) and program faculty and directors. For a small fee, grad programs can sign up to host a booth, where you’ll be able to share information about your program and meet “face-to-face” (on Zoom) with prospective students from 12:00-3:00 pm ET both days. Then, from 3:00-5:00 pm ET we’ll offer four live sessions, in addition to a bank of pre-recorded sessions available to all attendees. We’ll start reaching out to grad programs this week, but you can also email [email protected] to reserve your spot! More info coming soon at https://ncph.org/conference/2025-grad-fair/.
