Program Introduction

Originally established in 1972 as the Museum Technology Ontario Advanced Diploma program, the three-year Applied Museum Studies* Ontario Advanced Diploma program at Algonquin College admits 45 students to level one each year. Additionally, 10-15 applicants with previous post-secondary credentials are granted advanced standing into second year. Students gain technical knowledge and skills in Museum Management, Collections Management, Preservation and Conservation, Exhibit Preparation and Educational Programming to prepare for entry-level positions in the cultural sector. Approximately eight hundred students have graduated from the more recent version* of program, with a current average of thirty-five students graduating annually.
