Program Introduction

Established in 2004, the Public History Program offers a BA in Public History and a Minor in Public History that can be appended to any major. The program admits three to six students each year and has graduated approximately 20 students, who have gone on to work in public history institutions, nonprofits, colleges, and government agencies, and studied at the graduate level. The Public History Program provides students with historical knowledge and skill sets in research, historical interpretation, exhibit production, collections and archival management, oral history, and digital humanities. Additionally, a lower-credit second major in Digital Humanities is available to students looking to explore digital making, cultures, and inquiry.
