Program Introduction

The Department of History extends funding packages to approximately 6-8 MA students and 1-2 PhD students per year. In addition to teaching students the foundations of historical research methodologies, our Concentration in Public History trains students to practice history for and with the public. We emphasize hands-on, experiential and project-based learning through our required Public History Practicum and Internship program, and actively prepare students for career paths across public, non-profit, and private sectors.
