Project Details
Mapping Decadence is a digital project which shows that writers’ geographical location in the Parisian social space played an important and often overlooked role in determining their relationships with publishers at the end of the nineteenth century in Paris. To support this claim, I focus on four writers – Joris-Karl Huysmans, Jean Lorrain, Marcel Schwob, and Rachilde – who were leading figures in Decadence.

This project was born out of a chapter of my dissertation. It has been slow to build over the years but I have been working on it since 2015, with recent additions in July 2020.
