Project Details

“Stories of the Great Migration” is a digital hub that shares the stories of Black southern migrants who came to Boston and worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard, a site of Boston National Historical Park. This hub provides an introductory article and includes three story maps that demonstrate these individuals’ connection to the Yard.

These story maps also highlight the complexity of Black migrants' lives beyond their work at Charlestown Navy Yard. Visitors will learn how these migrants traveled great distances, worked in multiple jobs, stood up against injustice, and served their communities.
