ITHAKA

Temporary Position

Digital Humanities

Hourly Rate

Reveal Digital is part of ITHAKA, furthering the mission of enhancing access to knowledge and education for people around the world through a library crowd-publishing model that creates diverse thematic collections of scholarly value. These collections amplify underrepresented 20th-century voices of dissent. Our goal is to foster scholarship and education by making these primary sources widely available through open access models.

ITHAKA is offering a limited, fixed-term Collection Development Specialist position through December 31, 2024. In this role, you will work for a total of 24 hours a week with Reveal Digital’s team on our “Black Periodicals” collection, part of our Diversity & Dissent fund, which aims to document the political, literary, and cultural efforts of Black Americans and the global Black freedom struggle from the early 20th century through the Black Power movement.

To support this vital collection you will source content, engage with institutions and individuals to acquire materials, contribute to metadata creation efforts, and coordinate permissions in partnership with the Rights and Permissions Specialist. The ideal candidate will possess strong research and organizational skills and will have an interest in preserving and amplifying underrepresented voices. Evidence of effective communication skills, a keen interest in dynamic teamwork, and an aptitude for creative problem-solving are also essential. Bonus points for experience working within cultural heritage and/or arts sectors.
