Position Summary

The Library & Archives Intern at Storrowton Village Museum (SVM) provides an undergraduate student or recent graduate an opportunity to learn how to evaluate museum library materials for retention and deaccession; update the physical housing of the collection to current archival standards; reorganize, categorize and catalogue reference materials and rare books; and rebuild our museum library for use by volunteers, staff, and other historians. Additionally, the intern will be able to partner with museum staff on management of the Eastern States Exposition archives. SVM provides a unique experience with its location on the grounds of the Eastern States Exposition, which features the annual Big E Fair.

Pay Range

$15-$18 per hour

Position Requirements

  • Successful completion of at least two semesters (or equivalent) of college work.
  • Major in history, library science, or other similar focus-area.
  • Ability to stand, sit, maneuver in small spaces due to the historic nature of our buildings for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to climb stairs multiple times throughout shifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete both independent and collaborative work.
  • Reliable transportation to and from internship.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.
