ABSTRACT

We are looking to create solidarity between women who are currently graduate students and young professionals. To do so, the workshop will discuss workload, work/life balance, and conclude with steps to create a support network via email or GroupMe. Presenters will discuss their current projects and how to navigate the topics listed above. Ideally, this will empower female students and young professionals to succeed in their prospective jobs and begin to build a professional network that will continue that support outside of the conference.

DESCRIPTION

With this workshop, we hope to give women in the historical profession tips on managing work/life balance, confidence in the workplace, and supporting one another. Our goal is to create a community of women historians who can support and give advice to one another. We are looking for interest as well as looking for women historians that would be willing to share their experiences and tips with others.

I think this is a good idea. I wonder if you may want to reach out to Mary Rizzo and/or Kristen Baldwin Deathridge and/or other folks who were active on our gender equity task force. Check History@Work for posts about their work if you need/want to find potential collaborators.
