Program Introduction
Established in 2020, the Public History Minor at Eastern Illinois University is open to all undergraduate students. Thought the program is still in its infancy, nearly a dozen students have enrolled in the first year. Though the program is new and offers flexibility for students to explore a variety of public history activities from exhibit design, to conducting oral histories, as well as building digital archives.

Internship Requirements
Internships are a key component of the minor. The student works with the coordinator to identify and arrange an agreement with a host institution. The goal of the internship is to provide practical experience in a Public History organization to allow the student to apply and develop skills related to public history. (3 credits)
