Program Introduction

The MA in History at Rutgers University-Camden admits approximately 15 students each year, with approximately of 15 students graduating annually. Of these, typically 5 students per year are in the Public History track. Public History students take courses specifically designed around Public History theory, methods, and job-related skills, and we have a very strong record of placing our students into regional institutions involved in public-facing history, including museums, historic preservation, archival work, national parks, and historic sites.

Internship Requirements

One internship is required of students in the Public History track. We utilize our network of program alumni to help students find an internship that matches their interests and schedule. Internships can be done during the academic year or during vacations, as the student desires. Internships are paid, and also count for course credit, allowing the student to reduce their required course load by one course.
