Project Details

David E. Whisnant is an Asheville (NC) outmigrant writing at the intersection of regional, community, family and personal history. Juxtaposes insufficiently explored aspects of Asheville (NC) and regional history with the working class histories of my grandparents (1870-1950s), parents (1915-2000) and others of those generations, illuminating them reciprocally. Explores broad aspects of class, gender, racial, family, social, cultural, economic, commercial, industrial, policy and institutional history. Draws upon my more than 50 years of multidisciplinary research, writing and teaching (see https://www.prisource.com/welcome/david-e-whisnant), and also the applicable scholarly work of others in multiple disciplines. Highlights digital resources throughout.
