Project Details

Launched in 2011, Hoosier State Chronicles is our statewide digitized historical newspaper collection. Comprising over 1.2 million pages from 1804-2018, it is a freely accessible, fully searchable web portal of Indiana's rich newspaper heritage. It also feeds into the National Digital Newspaper Project, a project developed by the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Federal Library Services & Technology Act funds and state funds provide financial support to the project. The project was launched with National Endowment for the Humanities funds through the National Digital Newspaper Program in 2011, and received subsequent awards in 2013, 2015, and 2017.
