Transcribed and annotated diary of a Black woman who lived in Philadelphia during the Civil War. Emilie Davis's diary contains daily entries from January 1863 - December 1865. Davis recorded her educational efforts, war news, employment notes, and other every day happenings. Annotations include additional contextual information that help shed light on the topics and people she mentions. High resolution scans of the original diary pages are also available.
