From around the field this week: Topic proposals for NCPH 2022 are now viewable, and we encourage you to leave feedback by July 1 so proposer submitters can incorporate it into their final proposals; Gilder Lehrman is hosting a conversation with Henry Louis Gates this evening, June 2; the Society for History in the Federal Government’s annual Trask Lecture is this Friday, June 4.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- NCPH received thirty topic proposals from people looking for feedback or co-presenters for next March’s annual meeting in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. View the proposals and leave feedback by July 1 via https://ncph.org/phc/2022-annual-meeting-topic-proposals/. We recommend emailing the proposer directly with sensitive feedback or if you’re interested in joining their session.
AWARDS AND FUNDING
- The deadline for the Istanbul Research Institute’s 2021-2022 grants is July 5, 2021
- Applications for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s “New Directions for Digital Scholarship in Cultural Institutions” grant are due July 8, 2021

- The Congress 2021 of the Humanities and Social Sciences’ virtual conference will be held May 27-June 4, 2021
- The John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies and Uppsala Universitet call for papers for their workshop, “Transatlantic Memories: History Activism, Memory, and Diplomacy across the Atlantic World,” to take place virtually and in Berlin, Germany, November 4-5, 2021 (deadline is June 10, 2021)
- Meridian and the National Endowment for the Humanities will hold their virtual “Global Humanities Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy” on June 11, 2021
- NCPH calls for proposals for our 2022 annual meeting, “Crossroads,” in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, March 23-26, 2022 (deadline is July 15, 2021)
- The New Jersey Historical Commission calls for proposals for their virtual “2021 New Jersey History Conference” on November 12, 2021 (deadline is August of 2021)
- The Center for Cryptologic history and the National Cryptologic Foundation call for paper proposals for their “18th Cryptologic History Symposium” in Laurel, Maryland, US, May 11-13, 2022 (deadline is September 7, 2021)
- The Business History Conference calls for proposals for their annual meeting, “Business History in Times of Disruption: Embracing Complexity and Diversity,” in Mexico City, Mexico, April 7-9, 2022 (deadline is October 1, 2021)
- The Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender History calls for papers for their “Queer History Conference 2022” in San Francisco, California, US, June 12-15, 2022 (deadline is November 1, 2021)
