From Around the Field this week: The Organization of American Historians has extended proposals for their 2026 conference “Re-Thinking American History at 250” to April 29, 2025; Seattle University hosts “Race, Racialization, and Resistance: Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Humanities”; the 2025 National Humanities Conference has extended their call for proposals to May 11, 2025.

  • The Association of African American Museums is accepting nominations for their 2025 awards through May 15, 2025
  • The Association of Midwest Museums seeks nominations for their Promising Leadership, Distinguished Career, Best Practices, and Groundbreakers Awards by May 23, 2025
  • The Center for Archival Collections at Bowling Green State University is accepting applications for their Access to the Archives Travel Grant through May 31, 2025
  • The Western Historical Association is accepting applications for the Louise Pubols Public History Prize through June 30, 2025

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

  • The National Preservation Institute will host a session on Section 4(f) Compliance for Historic Properties in Montpelier, Vermont, US, from April 23-24, 2025
  • The National Council on Public History, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation will host a digital AAPI Digital Public History Project Showcase on May 14, 2025
  • The National Preservation Institute will host a session on Section 106: An Introduction in New York, New York, US, from April 28-29, 2025, and in Salt Lake City, Utah, US, from May 20-21, 2025
  • The virtual 2025 Oral History Storytelling Workshop, hosted by The Center for Oral History and Tradition at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, will be held on Thursdays from May 8 – June 12, 2025
  • Columbia University will host the NEH-funded Archives as Data – Summer Institute 2025 for historians and archivists in processing and analyzing textual data June 2-13, 2025 at Columbia University, New York City, New York, US. Master students through established scholars are encouraged to apply. Financial support may be available for those needing to travel 
  • Students completing their Master in Digital and Public History at the University of Luxembourg will host an online seminar, “Public history for contested and conflicting past(s),” on June 19, 2025
  • The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center will host a five day seminar, “Teaching the Holocaust” from July 14-18. A limited number of full and partial scholarships and travel stipends are available for those who qualify. Applications are due June 23, 2025
  • The Preservation Institute Nantucket is now accepting applicants for their 2025 cohort. The program will run from June 9 – August 8 and is open to graduate students, upper-level undergraduate students, and recent graduates from any discipline and institution. Final application deadline is April 30, 2025
  • The Buildings-Landscapes-Cultures Field School will host their Public Humanities Summer training weekdays from July 7, 2025 – August 1, 2025. Applications are due May 1, 2025
